My Aging IBM Laptop

I'm posting this in part to see if blogger can handle picture attachments properly.

That's a pic of my old iSeries laptop.

Like all IBM laptops, the keyboard is legendary but like all aging equipment, minor quirks begin to manifest themselves.

One gripe right now is the battery. It does not seem to carry a charge anymore. The laptop would just die even when I am on AC. I have to remove the battery to run it. I have yet to have the battery checked.

The lcd is not as bright as before, probably needs its inverter replaced. Either that or the LCD lamp.

It's still on my desk, gathering dust.

It's running SUSE 10 OSS now and I use it for nothing more than occasional surfing and as an alarm clock to wake me up in the morning :-)

I certainly don't have that sharp an ear.

Seriously, how's that possible ? The receiver must have some powerful hardware and eat up tons of electricity to be able to do that.

I must remind myself to be careful, some the expletives I write on email may just find their way

My First Post

This is my first post to blogger.com

I maintain my own blog at ham.is-a-geek.com. It's hosted on my home pc and is online whenever I'm on the net.

I saw a very nice firefox extension that allows people to comment on web pages and to create blog posts about them. A real time saver if you ask me.

I don't have time anymore to blog. The process of going to my blog site, clicking New Blog and taking the time to write an actual blog entry is a chore given my schedule.

Let's see if this nifty firefox extension and an account at blogger.com changes that :-)
